We might have finally found a long lasting chew! I have tried EVERYTHING for my boy Luca. Collagen chews, hairy cow ears (he loves these), even rawhide at one point, and not a single thing lasts him more than 20 minutes. We never get multiple chew sessions out of one chew. He’s been gnawing on this ostrich cane for 30 minutes and…has just barely managed to strip some meaty bits off the outside. I can see his jaw getting tired now! We still have 99% of the bones left and he’s getting tired, starting to let his attention wander a bit like he’s ready to call it quits for right now. I shouldn’t be this excited over a dog bone but I am! Something might have defeated the grizzly bear jaws on my dog. Once this bone is done, we’ll definitely have to buy more!

This is the picture of calm enjoyment. My Aussiedoodle Brownie that we rescued a year ago came to us with a suitcase full of reactivity. Our recent dog trainer said that gnawing and licking were great for reducing anxiety as we continue training through positive reinforcement and building confidence. She loves it! It is not messy or stinky. It will last a long time, so I ask her to drop it after 30 minutes or so, and put it in a paper bag for later. BEST EVER.

We have a husky-pit mix who is a power chewer as well as being really picky. Bully sticks and most of the other natural chews only last a couple of minutes for her, and she won’t touch the nylon and kong type chews. She’s such a strong chewer that we have to be really careful with most bones, because she splinters them. But one of these canes will keep her busy for 20-30 minutes, and she will stay interested in it for weeks. They look expensive at first glance, but one will easily outlast the equivalent price of any other chews I’ve found.

I have two large lab mixes (75+ pounds each). They blow through a bully stuck in under 15 mins. These ostrich bones are on night 4 still. They last so much longer but they aren’t impossibly hard either which I prefer so it’s safer on their teeth. Great product for a long lasting sage bone! And no upset stomach issues either.
